Anything by Thornton Burgess-- He has a ton of books about animals and nature. Some are very elementary and some are real chapter books designed to teach children about nature. Unfortunately, he refers to "Mother Nature" but we just insert "the Creator". These books are well worth the trouble!

  1. First, let me say that when I figured out that you had 2 blogs, well I just smiled thinking how amazing you are! Then, I wanted to add to this great list. So sad that Booked Up had donated all its children's books to an elementary school library; I wish it had been your home library. :)

  2. What an extensive list. Thanks for all that work. My granddaughter is going to be 10 next month and I always get her picture books at the library. They are beautiful, fun, and when she's tired (I babysit for my daughter while she works nights) she can read one or two and it's not a huge effort. Bedtime is book time around here. Best wishes, Linda
